It all started as a game in isolation caused by a pandemic. In those days, we tried to cheer up our audience, but also our colleagues. We wanted to remind them of the beautiful exhibitions, travels, cultural heritage, places they traveled, and enjoyed. We wanted to restore their optimism and remind them that the pandemic is not eternal, and that we will think again about what we have not seen, which museums to visit, what archeological sites, where famous artists created their masterpieces, but also what is intangible cultural heritage – from music, dance, old crafts to gastronomy.

Postcards started arriving from all over the world and after a few days, we realized that the game had grown into an exhibition. As the International Museum Council – ICOM has already announced that this year’s International Museum Day will get its digital, online format, we decided to post the story of “Artis’ postcards”, ie our “Art Travel Album”, on our website and enable a peaceful, easy viewing.

This is material that you can keep coming back to and enjoy each postcard individually. It’s very simple. Click on image or the link below the image of the continent – a page with clearly arranged images will open. Then you click on the image and it opens in full format. In the upper left corner, just above the open image, you have the option to go forward or backward.

Postcards are arranged according to the first letter of the author’s name.

We take this opportunity to thank our colleagues, institutions, and individuals who supported us in this process: the Olga Olja Ivanjicki Found, Embassy of Georgia, ICOM MPR, ICOM Russia, the Rostov Kremlin Museum, the Regional History Museum of Ruusse in Bulgaria, the Museum of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, the Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje, the Regional Museum Maribor in Maribor, Slovenia, the Manifestation “Museum for 10” whose founders are the national museums of Serbia, and the main coordinator is ICOM Serbia.

We especially thank Princess Elizabeth Karageorgevic (nee of Yugoslavia), who liked our initiative, so she decided to take part in it herself.

And the biggest thanks to all participants – over 70 of them, for almost 200 postcards that arrived at our address!

People, you are fantastic! It was a pleasure to work with all of you, and we will do our best to make this online exhibition grow into a real dimension.

Happy International Museum Day!

The Exhibition is opened! ⇑

Artisova razglednica: Azija, Australija i Novi Zeland | Artis’ Postcard: Asia, Australia & New Zealand

Kakav nestvaran, misteriozan kontinent! Koliko boja i oblika! Kakav kulturni kaleidoskop!

Zahvaljujemo se Ani Mikić D’Apuzzo, Biljani Djordjević, Bojani Zuzi, Bošku Ognjeviću, Dinari Kalikovoj i ICOM Rusija, Esteli Jugović, Ivani Kovačević Džoj Čih Ning Hsin, Lani Vučković, Rafelu Kašaru, Sladjani Velendečić, Slavici Batos, Sofiji Mrišuk, Sonji Avlijaš, Stefanu Nemanji Kostiću, Tamari Ognjević, Tomislavu Ivanoviću, Boženi Jurčić i Jeleni Vukićević na divnim razglednicama.

It is not surprising that Asia has excited the imagination of travelers, researchers, and traders for centuries. Every postcard from Asia, which arrived at our address, brought a new discovery, but also enthusiasm. What an unreal, mysterious continent! How many colors and shapes! What a cultural kaleidoscope!

Although we received very few postcards from Australia and New Zealand, what arrived was really special. We were fascinated by the ocean and the landscapes of that distant, insufficiently known continent.

We thank Ana Mikic D’Apuzzo, Biljana Djordjević, Bojana Zuza, Boško Ognjević, Dinara Khalikova and ICOM Russia, Estela Jugović, Ivana Kovačević Joy Chih Ning Hsin, Lana Vučković, Raffaele Casciaro, Sladjana Velendečić, Slavica Batus, Sofia Mrišuk , Stefan Nemanja Kostić, Tamara Ognjević, Tomislav Ivanović, Božena Jurčić and Jelena Vukićević on wonderful postcards.

Artisova razglednica: Južna Amerika | Artis’ Postcard: South America

Even the best novels, numerous films, and countless photographs have failed to describe South America. In that sense, our small gallery is just a hint of all those gorgeous cultural layers of this continent.

We thank Lana Vučkovic, Jana Rakanović, Susana Page and Sladjana Velendečić for these interesting photos.
